Introduction to printmaking: discovering processes, materials, and creating my images

research!
After discovering a visual lexicon I wanted to pursue, I needed to collect inspiration and have a physical "filing cabinet" of these instances. Photos from El Salvador, through family, social media, and the internet -- photos from New Haven on my walks to the studio, and contributions from friends who encourage my love for ironwork! Collected in this book for reference.

experimentation!

through different mediums such as watercolor, papermaking and pulp painting, and collage, I aimed to push how these different processes and mateials influence my visual lexicon and overall message to the viewer. with my linocut, I took it from a singular layer to a repetetive pattern in larger scale, to see how orientation can influence how a piece is read.

implementation!
taking these experiences and lessons from experimentation, i started my current series of prints in the form of tiles, mixing printing processes, texture of various paper, and vibrant color palettes.
